Drug Demand Reduction Outreach Program Reaches a Historic Number

“The Drug Demand Reduction Outreach program reached over 60 counties supporting over 115 community-based and law enforcement engagements utilizing strategic evidence-based problem-solving framework methods. The civil operators, as they are known, helped create long lasting changes and impact, reducing the risk of substance use, misuse, and abuse among communities and over 6,000 of their youth in addition to helping community based anti-drug organizations secure hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant funding”

Seven Indicted In Western New York Drug Trafficking Bust

“Seven people are facing charges in connection to a drug trafficking operation in Western New York that was dismantled by law enforcement….These individuals sold a variety of deadly narcotics, including fentanyl, across Western New York, and now they are being brought to justice. I thank our partners in this investigation for their assistance in keeping New Yorkers safe.”

Coordinated Rensselaer County Warrant Searches Net Arrests, Narcotics, and Weapons

“…the Rensselaer County Sheriffs Office Criminal Investigations Unit executed two separate narcotics-related search warrants, resulting in the arrests of two individuals on serious drug and weapon charges…. The Sheriff's Office extends its sincere thanks to the New York State Intelligence Center (NYSIC), the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center (CRCAC), and New York National Guard Counterdrug Task Force for their crucial assistance in both investigations.”

New York State Legislature Passes Fahy, McDonald Bill to Ban Kratom Sales For Those Under-21

“Legislation would be the first in NYS to finally regulate, address easily accessible Kratom drug following local tragedy…The legislation was a result of discussions at a NY National Guard Counterdrug Task Force briefing held in September 2024 regarding the issues that the Task Force was encountering related to kratom sales.”

 NYCD Participates In Investigation

“…sanctioned four Guyanese nationals and two Colombian nationals responsible for trafficking tons of cocaine from South America to the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean. These sanctions target drug traffickers utilizing boats and narco-subs to traffic ton-quantities of cocaine, along with an alleged corrupt Guyanese law enforcement official. The sanctions also target individuals who are operating covert airstrips to traffic drugs via aircraft.”

Who We Are

The New York National Guard Counterdrug Task Force is focused on expanding community prevention efforts and enhancing federal, state, and local law enforcement capabilities to reduce the supply and demand for fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription pills and other illicit narcotics within New York State. We reduce supply by providing highly skilled and trained Investigative Analysts to Law Enforcement Agencies and
maximizing support to affect the greatest population centers. Additionally, through our Civil Operators, we focus on prevention, education, and overdose response efforts within our local communities to reduce the demand for illegal narcotics.

Division of Military and Naval Affairs Regulation 500-2, New York National Guard Counterdrug Support, promulgated on 1 June 2006 pursuant to section 11 of the Military Law, authorizes and prescribes the standard policies, procedures, and responsibilities and overall concept of operations governing the utilization of the New York National Guard Counterdrug Task Force in support of Law Enforcement Agencies and community-based organizations to counter illicit drug activity.
